Open Letter From The President of TLF

Haiti you are in our hearts. Haiti you have touched our souls.

One can only imagine the pain and agony that ravaged this pearl and traumatized its people. Haiti, my beloved country, you have suffered so much through the years and still you continue to stand strong. My Haitian brothers and sisters, you have redefined the meaning of the word resilience. Our ancestors would be proud, as I am today.

On January 12, 2010, Haiti “La Pearle Des Antilles” experienced one of the most devastating earthquakes in history. The Haitian people, though in pain, crying, screaming and fearing the worst, never lost faith. Those who were safe marched on and reached out to their neighbors to lend a hand or a shoulder to cry on. The Haitian Diaspora remained vigilante for days and weeks thereafter working to assure that our nation’s voice was being heard and our people were being cared for. The world heard the cry and without hesitation came to our aid and for that we thank you!

The Timoun Lakay Foundation (TLF) automatically shifted gears and made Haiti’s earthquake relief its priority. On day one TLF was on the ground reaching out to local communities, orphanages, shelters and community clinics distributing water, food and basic supplies. Today our efforts continue and our commitment to the rebuilding effort is unwavering.

I would like to thank all of our donors and sponsors, particularly the Freedom Waters Foundation, the Florida Yachts Brokers Association, Bradford Marine, Luke Brown Yachts, The Sacks Group, Diane and Gary Heavin of Curves International, Inc., P.J. McNerney & Associates, Inc., and UPS Americas Region. TLF is grateful to you for your trust and commitment; your donations have been and continue to be instrumental in helping us achieve our goals.

With best regards,
